Awareness campaign on great ape protection in Lubero Territory

The PPSDR team continues its campaign to raise awareness among Indigenous Pygmy people and local residents about great ape protection in Lubero Territory. The campaign is expanding village by village, across settlements and Pygmy sites in VISIGHA, NGUVAGHATER, MASEKESEKE, KATOYO, MITEMBE, FATUWA, KYABIRIMU and KASHUGHO. This follows the great ape conservation action plan revised in Kinshasa on 7 November 2025, which emphasises the involvement of local people and Indigenous Pygmy communities, who have long played a crucial role as guardians and protectors of these species.
